Work in Progess I

I honestly don't know what I'm doing anymore. It looks decent so far but I'm still not used to illustrator. D: I still like Photoshop more!!!!

Background Research

Forest Look

More Trees
i've always liked trees. I wanted to place my character in a dark yet settle forest background.

Dark Forest
I might be leaning towards the dark background.

Rough Sketch

Sorry if it is too dark. ):
I don't have a scanner. Maybe I should wait until Monday and get it scanned during lab time. Then the quality will be better.
Also, this actually took me a total of about 8-9 hours off and on.
As you can see, I've incorporated some elements of my references: the antlers, mask-like with fur, and clothing.

Yet, I've also added a holographic rock and a holographic tree.

I can't wait to put this on Illustrator... I'm just crying inside.

Character Design References

I am a penguin lover. Mustache lover. Monocle lover. Cookie lover.
Though, I love these things, I just cannot seem to decide on a character based on what I liked. I've thought and thought like Winnie the Pooh. I have pondered and wandered far. Only to reach a conclusion of "what am I going to draw". Silly me, my noodles will think of something. Maybe, possibly.

I have found several references from clothes to masks.

A particular mask similarity I would like to draw would be Princess Mononoke's Mask. I like the fur around the mask.

Next would be the antlers.

I wanted my character to have a rustic look. I didn't want my character to not have clothing and I thought that these clothes would look nice even if they are on women. Then again, you cannot really tell if my character is male or female. It's wonderful.
Nomadic Clothing
These clothes are rather recent looking clothes? I'm not sure myself since I'm not a fashionista. ):

Practice Character

I had drawn a sketch of this a couple of days ago.The head looks a bit funky to me but I find it rather cute. = w=
Maybe it's just me.

Well this is a green rattlesnake with a mustache. I add mustaches to almost anything and everything.

Artist A Day

Lifesavers by Mary E#2AD550

When I first saw this artwork, I thought that it was a photograph. A photograph of aligned lifesavers: it seems plausible. As I read the description, I find that it is not a photograph but an oil painting!!! What amazes me the most is the feeling of how my stomache does not agree with my mind. I know that it is just an artwork, but my stomache growls otherwise. I like Johnson's work because her artwork tricks my mind into thinking that this is an edible delicable.
oh, deliciously painted artworks.

About me

Hello everyone! My name is Erica Pang and this is my blog for my Art 141: Digital Art at El Camino College. I am currently an undergraduate with an undeclared major. I enjoy mustaches, penguins and oh my, my, my lazy life of playing online games such as League of Legends. I am not the best gamer nor am I a pro but I try my best? I suppose that can reflect my life. (Maybe, possibly). On my spare time, I practice playing the piano and try to sketch out whatever images pop into my head. Most likely, the images in my head are prettier than those that I sketch on a piece of paper. For those who are looking at my blog, I hope that you enjoy it as much as i hate posting.
